After working with Jerry Stockle for several years, Joshua Gwiazda purchased SLO Billiards in 2025. SLO Billiards has now moved from Santa Margarita to Cayucos California. We are a mobile billiards table service (no storefront) that services our area from Santa Maria to King city and beyond. We move, install, and re-cover antiques, custom tables, commercial tables, and home tables of all makes and models.
Joshua grew up with an antique pool table in his basement in Brookline Massachusetts in New England. This beautiful old 9 foot table was manufactured by Atlantic Billiards Co. out of New York, and is currently set up in his garage in Cayucos. Joshua’s Grandfather in New Britain Connecticut had a pool table that Joshua learned to play on before he was tall enough to stretch over the rails. He moved to California to work in his Uncle Gary’s Auto Body shop in San Carlos in 1985 for a year, and then moved to Santa Cruz in 1986 to learn how to surf, and to attend UC Santa Cruz. He graduated UCSC in 1993 with a Bachelors Degree in the Fine Arts. Subsequently, he spent 15 years as a professional Skydiver teaching Jump lessons and packing parachutes as an FAA Certified Rigger, and performing demonstration jumps at airshows and events like the Mid State Fair in Paso Robles.
Skydiving out of the Paso Robles Airport is what brought Joshua to the Central Coast in 1994. When he decided to put his College Degree to work, Joshua went back to night school for several years and earned a California Teaching Credential and a Master’s in Teaching. In 2004 he got his first job teaching Art and Ceramics at the Paso Robles High School. Joshua Retired from teaching at PRHS in 2004 after 20 years of service. Joshua started coaching students in the skills of playing billiards in 2018 when he started the ‘Billiards Club’ at Paso Robles high school. Joshua enjoys playing eight ball competitively in the the SLO BCA League on Thursday nights at the Crimson Cue on Spring Street in Paso.
Joshua is excited to maintain the tradition of excellence in service established by Jerry over the past 40 years. Joshua has a high standard for installing and leveling tables.
