Combination Pool and Billiard Table

The Madison’s first patent was in 1900, and the Design patent came in 1912. This is a combination Pool and Carom table–it is also a ball return model.

This table had interchangeable rails. By pulling a lever under each rail, it would disengage that rail so it could be removed to change the table into A Pool or Carom table. For Carom you remove the pockets. The Carom side rails {not pictured} were the length of the table. When installed with the Carom end rails, the table had no pockets and you were ready for a game of Billiards.

These are the original ivory carom balls and official rule book that came with this table, circa 1916. The name plate was elegantly engraved into the solid rosewood railcaps.
